Drone racing is quickly becoming an exhilarating sport, with skilled pilots guiding high-speed drones through vibrant obstacle courses. T-Mobile, as the official technology partner of the Drone Racing League, enhances the excitement with its ultra-fast 5G network. To celebrate this partnership, T-Mobile launched an immersive Drone Experience at its Las Vegas Signature Store, making the thrill of drone racing accessible to everyone—from beginners to experts. Visitors signed up to participate, entering a world where they could hop into a massive Drone Racing Simulator and control a drone in a fast-paced video game. At the Build Your Own Drone Center, guests assembled their personalized drones, adding unique graphics to make each one special. Once ready, they took their creations for a spin in the Test Flight Area, aiming for the perfect landing. The event attracted over 6,000 participants in just 30 days, sparking significant excitement on social media and boosting foot traffic in the store.

To showcase its partnership with the DRL, T-Mobile set out to launch a drone-powered adventure inside its Las Vegas Signature Store. The goal: make the thrill of drone racing inviting and accessible for everyone, from first-timers to seasoned pilots.

While customers waited in line to participate in the Drone Experience, guests first had to sign up with a few pieces of relevant information and accept T-Mobile’s terms and conditions. The experience employed a lead generation platform that matched the look and feel of other touchpoints.

A giant Drone Racing Simulator welcomed customers, letting them step right into the pilot’s seat. With real flight controls in hand, guests could command a drone in a DRL Racing League video game, feeling the rush of competition.

At the Build Your Own Drone Center, the adventure became hands-on. Guests registered, received their own wireless drones, and picked out custom graphic decals to make each drone uniquely theirs.

With drone and graphics kit in hand, customers gathered at assembly tables alive with scrolling magenta tickers, glowing LED instructions, and bins brimming with tools, batteries, and chargers.

Building their own drones offered a playful, hands-on experience that sparked pride and a real connection between each customer and their new flying machine.

Once their drones were built and personalized, customers took to the enclosed Test Flight Area, ready to launch their creations on a maiden flight through a mini obstacle course.

The test flight zone delivered both fun and challenge, as customers guided their drones through a ring and aimed for a perfect landing on a pedestal. Pulling it off was no easy task! Transforming the store into a multi-layered event, T-Mobile sparked real excitement for its brand and the world of drone racing alike.
